From enquiry to an agreed engagement

Start with your question. If suitable support is available, these four steps would establish and deliver a clear piece of paid work.

  1. Start with your question

Email a short outline of the work, decision or opportunity you want to make clearer.

  2. Explore fit and define the scope

If suitable support is available, clarify the question, the people involved and the work required. A written proposal would set out the approach, deliverables, timescale and fees.

  3. Agree the paid engagement

Paid work begins only after the scope, fees and engagement terms have been agreed. An initial enquiry does not book work or commit you to an engagement.

  4. Work towards the agreed outputs

Review progress at agreed milestones, confirm any change to scope and finish with the agreed outputs and practical next steps for your organisation.

Tell us where you are starting

You do not need a complete brief. Describe your organisation, the question and any timing that matters.

From a first question to agreed work

We first check whether the work is a suitable fit and whether we have availability. A written proposal sets out the work, what you will receive, timing and fees. Paid work starts only after the engagement is agreed.

An enquiry does not book work or commit you to a fee. Keep your first outline brief and avoid sending personal or sensitive records.

Before you enquire

Can we arrange consultancy now?

You can enquire now. We will check fit and availability, then agree the work, timing and fees in writing before an engagement starts.

How are strategy and operational efficiency different?

Strategy focuses on direction, priorities and the choices ahead. Operational efficiency focuses on how agreed work moves between people, where it gets delayed or repeated, and which improvements are worth testing. A scope can connect them where the question calls for both.

What is the difference between a governance review and general consultancy?

A governance review starts with a defined question and tests relevant evidence, decisions and current practice. General consultancy may begin with a broader organisational question. Either can lead to a practical reset, but the scope, evidence and decision owners would be agreed first.

What would a proposal cover?

The question to address, proposed approach, outputs, responsibilities, timescale, fees and engagement terms. Any exclusions or need for specialist input would be identified. Sending an enquiry does not commit you to paid work.

Is consultancy included with To Action software?

Consultancy and the products have separate arrangements. A Hub account does not arrange consultancy or access to another product. You do not need to choose software before discussing an organisational question.

Does this replace specialist advice or guarantee an outcome?

Organisations retain their decisions and responsibilities. Property support is not a survey, design, valuation or compliance service. Grant support cannot guarantee funding, and operational improvements need to be measured before any saving is claimed.
